For this renovation, we reimagined the ground floor to create a more coherent spatial layout, inspired by the elegant symmetry of the interbellum-style side façade. By treating the staircase and entrance hall as the central core and removing all other partitions, we established a balanced plan: living spaces on one side, and a kitchen with dining area opening onto the garden.

As the original rear façade lacked quality and garden connection, we fully opened it at ground level. However, we chose to retain the existing marble fireplace, using it as an anchoring element in the new composition. A large concrete beam was introduced to support the upper part of the house, resting on two newly added volumes. One wraps around the fireplace in a soft curve; the other forms a block housing tall outdoor cabinets and an integrated fridge for the kitchen on the inside.

These volumes are clad in dark red tiles, reinforcing our concept of compositional stacking. The dark red tiles are also used in the interiors of the kitchen and the bathroom to establish a consistent and cohesive inside-out concept. By allowing the concrete beam to protrude from the side façade, we further emphasize this elemental and tectonic approach.
